I have a marker (which I'm using as a pseudo button) to unhide both a text box and a back button maker and hide the first text box on the stage.
Is the 'Normal' state in a trigger supposed to 'unhide' a hidden object? To unhide an object, do I need to set it to 'hidden' in the timeline, OR do I keep it visible in the timeline AND add a trigger to the object and make it hidden when the timeline starts?
Neither seem to work. I can 'hide' something on the stage with a trigger - but can't figure out how to 'unhide' an object.
If you set a hidden state to normal it should become visible, you can set initial state to hidden. You cannot set the initial state to hidden and have a trigger on the object to change it to normal when timeline starts because the timeline for that object will not start whilst it is hidden.
You can set an offslide shape at a specific point in the timeline with a trigger to change the state on time line start or end.
The way you describe should work, can you post the slide
"You cannot set the initial state to hidden and have a trigger on the object to change it to normal when timeline starts because the timeline for that object will not start whilst it is hidden." Bingo!
Thanks Phil, you saved me a lot of puzzlement and grief today.
Using the States' tab in the timeline area to set it to 'Hidden', will then mess up the rollover state of the button when it is no longer hidden and set to normal. Articulate needs to add the basic functionality to hide/unhide, i.e., visible/not visible like what exists in Adobe Flash.

You can hide it and then when you unhide it the hover state works

Thanks, Phil,
OK - I think I figured it out. It was unclear that you need to use the 'States' tab to set the initial state to hidden.
So - the process is:
"You cannot set the initial state to hidden and have a trigger on the object to change it to normal when timeline starts because the timeline for that object will not start whilst it is hidden." Bingo!

Once again, Articulate community to the rescue!
