Having trouble with users revisiting courses

Jul 29, 2014

I have a course with required topic quizzes and a module test. User completed all topics and logged off. When he returned some of his completed topics were no longer diplaying as completed and he was dropped in the middle of a topic quiz. All slides are set on "Automatically decide" for the when revisiting field and the player is set to "Prompt to resume". User selected Yes to resume.

This has happened to a few users – most users complete the entire course in one sitting, so it has not been wide-spread.

The course was created in Articulate Storyline Update 5: 1401.2415; is being hosted in our LMS; and is being viewed in a spoon version of ie8.

I did find the following in an Articulate tutorial:

If you choose Always or Prompt, and if you'll be hosting your content in an LMS, do one of the following:

  • If your LMS supports bookmarking, mark the box labeled When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The LMS will control resume behavior in this scenario.
  • If your LMS does not support bookmarking, uncheck When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The Flash cookie will control resume behavior in this scenario.

This may be the issue. I’m also waiting to here from my LMS vendor.

Hi Cecily,

Yes, if you're hosting your course in an LMS you will want to see if your LMS vendor supports the bookmarking and then allow the LMS to handle it. If your LMS doesn't support it, Storyline can store it in the Flash cookie - but if your users are clearing out their browser history and cache regularly that could disrupt the course and tracking.

Please feel free to keep us posted on what your LMS team says.
