Having troubles with a pdf link and publishing as LMS
Jun 30, 2016
I have looked at other posts of this kind and have followed suggested solutions but I am not ending up with an external files folder in the published file set.
Here's what I am doing:
- Place pdf that I want to open in a new browser window in same directory with the .story file I am working on
- Use trigger to link to the pdf. Have tried direct file link where it is residing, and also the "story_content/external_files/MyFile.pdf" path as described in the help files. Neither has produced the external files folder in the output.
This has to be something simple I am missing...guidance please? Thank you.

Hi, Richard -- Thanks for your questions, and sorry to hear of your troubles! I know you had mentioned reviewing other discussions related to a missing external files folder, but may I ask if you had a chance to check out this one, as well?
Hi Christie, I think I've sorted this out since posting my question. As usual I was working my SL file on the Mac side, away from my virtual Windows. Usually that works fine as long as I keep my audio files on the C Drive. In this case the string to the pdf was too long and far away.....when the pdf was placed in the same directory on the C Drive with the story file and published, all is good. I will continue to fantasize that Articulate will one day offer a Mac version of Storyline.
Thank you for your response :)
Awesome news, Richard -- glad to hear you were able to determine the source of the issue and the update is appreciated! :)
