Heads Up if Using Drag and Drops With States in latest Storyline 360 Build

Dec 12, 2017

If you are using a drag object that will have states, read on! Hope to save some people the stress of figuring this out the hard way.

When you insert a state, the normal state is duplicated. For example, if you have a picture as the normal state, that same picture would appear in your new state. In past versions of Storyline, you could delete this duplicate picture in the new state and replace it with a different picture. We often did this for specific Drag states, and the drag and drop would work fine. This is no longer the case.

You now have to keep that duplicated picture in order for the drag and drop to function properly. If you upgraded the project from an older version of Storyline (we did from Storyline 2), there will be a transparent shape (you'll see dotted lines as the border) - keep it, don't delete it!

Currently logged as a bug, but wanted to share in case it helps anyone.

I've got good news for you, Kristin! We just released another update for Articulate 360, and it includes a fix for the problem where the normal state was being duplicated when a new state was created.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
