I inherited a course from someone else and for the life of me I can't figure out why it's behaving the way it is. I've uploaded the file. When you look at the slide, everything is fine. But when you Preview it, much of it is missing. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure what you mean. Looking at the slide, I see a Drag&Drop Interaction. It has four drop targets but NO Drag Items. I guess the drag items should be text objects for Time, Scope, Quality and Resources, but they are missing. That's why the interaction doesn't work.
I would submit a support case as Michael suggests, but try viewing it in a different browser just for laughs. I have been noticing a lot of issues with cross browser compatibility lately.
I don't see a support case for you yet, but I'd love to know a bit more about this!
Are you seeing the odd display when previewing/publishing, or both? If it's only when viewing the published output, where have you hosted it and what browser(s) are you viewing it in?
Storyline 2 does offer limited HTML5 browser support, and that may explain some of what you're seeing if you viewed the HTML5 version of the course in a non supported browser.
Given that it displayed correctly on other computers, I tried a different laptop and it works fine. So I’m assuming (correctly or not) that it was my laptop…
It could be a setting on your computer or browser - so certainly something to keep an eye on. Let me know if you check into the browser and are able to spot anything else that may have caused it!
Uh oh, Eric! Not a fun message to come across - and it can happen under a few conditions such as working from a network/shared drive, or having a file name/path with special characters. This is detailed a bit more here.
If a file becomes corrupt there isn't a way to revert it, but there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how to check:
1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

I removed those to simplify the slide. When you launch it, so all of the arcs with arrows around the triangle show? I see some but not all...
I see this
Dang. Why would it not show for me?
What version of SL are you using?
I'm using Storyline 2 Update 12: 1705.520
So weird. I see this (attached).
Weird indeed. Try attached file. This is your file unchanged, just opened and saved with a different name in my Storyline.
Same thing. I'm stumped.
I would submit a support case.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Eric,
It could be a setting on your computer or browser - so certainly something to keep an eye on. Let me know if you check into the browser and are able to spot anything else that may have caused it!
Interesting. Hadn’t thought of that. I’ve been using the same laptop for several years and it’s never happened before.
I’m not even sure where to look…
Hi Ashley,
I just got a message that my project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. Do you know of any tools or resources to salvage it?

If a file becomes corrupt there isn't a way to revert it, but there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how to check:
1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
Let me know if you find it there!
Wow, brilliant! Thanks so much!!!
