Hi, I have the same problem. I can not open a file. If I change the name everything is OK.

My question is, if it is possible to do it without change the name of the file. For example, we use a versioning software. How Can we fix the file without renaming it ? It is possible that problem is cause by a force quit of the Storyline application or a force Power off the computer.

I don't understand, why, like Microsoft Word, Storyline block the file when it is open. This cause a lot of problem when we use external software like GIT or other for versioning. We have to close Storyline each time we use these software. With Adobe product we don't have that kind of problem,

Hi Steve,

What's the name of the file?

With Storyline (and Word files) we adhere to the Microsoft guidelines for file names and paths to be well under the 260 character limit. Otherwise, they may not open or behave correctly. You'll also want to check that your files are saved locally before opening or attempting to edit them. Working from a network/shared drive is known to cause issues with how files behave. You'll see this and other helpful tips to prevent odd behavior detailed here.

I'm not familiar with the versioning software you're using, but if that's continuously saving or linking to a network/shared version of your file, that could explain why Storyline doesn't play well with it.

Hi Michael,

Sorry, you ran into this, but I'm glad you figured out that workaround!

I'd want to check that you're also on the latest update of your version of Storyline. You can check by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline." You'll be looking for one of the following:

- Storyline 360, build 3.26.18364.0

- Storyline 3, build 3.6.18134.0

The latest updates have focused on several performance improvements and helping reduce those temp files that were stored.
