Help...How to Lightbox to a Scene?
Oct 01, 2019
Hello, I have a course with an Assessment Test that randomly pulls 25 questions from multiple Question Banks. When the user is on a question slide I need to provide a way for them to "review course material". My issue is that the entire course is sequential, with Next/Prev buttons and has 4 sections. There are videos in each section that would take a long time when they really want to do a "quick review". Rather than taking them back to the very beginning of the course I thought I would give them an option to select the 'section' they would like to view. My question is...I would like to Lightbox this so they have the option to close when they want rather than having to view the entire scene (because there is no way to navigate) through the slides. Questions:
Trigger option does not let me select anything outside of the "Assessment Scene", I need to select other Scenes in the course?
Can I Lightbox to a Scene rather than a Slide?
Any ideas how I can accomplish letting the user access Scenes when in a test?
Thank you!

Hi Kelly
can't you jump to the first slide of the scene and then have the nav buttons in the lightbox slides enabled so they can move back and forth?
Thank you for the reply, I will add the Navigation option to the trigger. My issue is when I am adding the trigger to Jump to a slide it does not give me the option to select a Scene other than the Question Bank Scene....I need to jump to the other Scenes in the course.
Doesn't jumping to the first slide of a scene give you the same functionality as jumping to the scene? Storyline typically doesn't allow jumping to a scene.
This issue is that the "what slide" option ONLY gives the Assessment Test Scene and no other Scenes in the course which are the Scenes I need to jump to. Screen shot attached.
There is no option for that. You will have to create variables and conditional navigation based on those variables.
okay, thank you. I begin searching the community for advice on how to set those up.
Please feel free to post back here if you have problems figuring this out.
Would you be willing to give me some initial pointers on how to set up the variables, I clearly do not know how to go about it. I appreciate your time and any input you would be willing to provide.
Hi Kelly,
I have put together a very basic example of what I think you want. My quiz has only 1 question and if the user gets it incorrect, the student is sent to the first scene to review. At the end of that scene they go back to the beginning of the quiz.
I have not addressed variables to make sure I go back to the same question I was on at the time went to the review. Nor have I addressed being able to answer the question again when I get back.
Take a look and let me know if you have any questions.
Hi Kelly
can you take a look at the attached rough sample file - is this how you want it to work?
Thank you, yes this is exactly what I need. The issue is that my trigger option does not include any of the content scenes...it only displays the Assessment Test scene, your trigger options include all content scenes. Attached is a screen shot.
Hi Kelly,
Do you mind sharing your .story file so we can take a closer look at your course to see why you're unable to jump to the slide you want?
You can do so publicly here for the community to assist or you can send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete after testing.
Hi Kelly
it's hard to say what's happening from your word doc - are you able to share the file and we can see the setup and what is happening? Just use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post to upload your file.
