Please help, I don't know how to fix a glitch with a button

Aug 09, 2017

I created a slide with buttons.  It works fine on my computer (I click the button, the window of text opens, I click on the bar to scroll down to read it all).

I uploaded it to our LMS and it works fine for me too.  But I had a staff person test it, she showed me as well.  When she clicks on the button, the window pops up. When she clicks on the bar to drag it down, the window shuts.  So she has to click on the button, drag, read, then it closes and she has to click, drag, read on the same button to read all of the text.  Help.  It's slide 1.7 and I set my computer to 100 DPI so that shouldn't be it....

Hi Angela,

As Wendy mentioned, can you share a copy of your .story file here with us? I'd also like to know:

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • What LMS are you using? Have you also tried the same course with the same user at SCORM Cloud? It's a good testing site to see how it should behave in the LMS.
  • What browser(s) were you both viewing it in?

Hi Leslie, sorry for the delay, is this what I need to attach?  If it is, and you can view it, it's slide 1.7.  When I view it and click on all of the buttons, I can see the window open, I can grab the scroll bar and scroll down and view the text.  The user who tested it for me, in Chrome, clicked and then the scroll bar wouldn't work and it closed every time she scrolled so she had to keep opening it to try to scroll to read all of the content.

Hi Angela

click the grey 'add attachment' button here at the bottom of the post and navigate to your local drive where you have the storyline files stored and select the one you want help with.

It's the file you open in storyline and edit - it will have an extension of .story so

e.g. Module1 Health and Safety.story

Hi Angela

I published your file, zipped it and uploaded it to Scormcloud (an industry standard LMS that is used for testing).  Using Chrome I had no trouble accessing the 7 markers and the scrollbars in those that had them.  Not sure what advice to give since i can't replicate the issue.

Here is a Peek video of Slide 1.7 working in Scormcloud

Thank you so much for the speedy reply and assistance!  I truly appreciate all of the amazing technical support, particularly as I continue to enhance my Storyline competencies.  That's exactly how the slide functions for me and is supposed to function so I have no idea why this user's computer makes it such a mess.  I think I'll keep an eye on it, but it's great to know that it's working properly.  Again, thanks for your help.
