HELP! I don't understand variables

Jun 01, 2017

I need to be able to prevent learners from progressing to the next slide until they have clicked on and viewed all slides in these three modules. I know variables would be the solution, I just don't know how to set it up.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi Shannon,

I feel your pain - variables were tricky for me when I first got started too!

The basics are covered in the tutorial that Brian linked too (that's for Storyline 2, but the same will apply for Storyline 3/360 to).

You could use the visited state of your 3 buttons to adjust a variable. So it would read something like this...

Adjust variable "NextSlide" to the Value True (Initial value is False) when the State on All of the Buttons is Visited.

The visited state is built into buttons and will behave as described here.

If you're still having a hard time setting it up - drop your .story file here and likely someone can take a look at it!
