I'm in need of your help. I'm doing pro-bono work for an historian, creating online lessons on the US Civil War in Storyline 2, but I'm not sure if I'm going about it the right way or if what I want to do is even possible in this program (I'm fairly new to it).
What I'm looking to accomplish is:
1) User clicks on soldier's name and either:
a) lighbox opens with slideshow of pictures to go with a narration on his history. or...
b) jump to another slide, where same slideshow displays with narration.
2) I'd also like to have multiple audio files playing, so I can have my narration along with gunshot sounds and cannon fire, etc.
Am I trying to do the impossible, or do I just need some direction? Any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I think it sounds entirely doable - but you may also want to post this in the Building Better Courses forum where there are more design/how to questions.
Lightboxes, vs. layers, vs. other slides - really a personal choice call depending on how you want the course to navigate/behave - so sharing a bit more about your requirements, set up, etc. would also be helpful for those community members who may be able to assist.
Another idea would be to use the slider. Similar to this one: https://youtu.be/q7Lu4GNdGyY but remove the different stops so the slider is more fluid.
As for more than one audio file per slide, yes you can. You can add as many as you would like. After inserting all of the audio files on the timeline I would HIGHLY recommend making certain audio files louder/softer than the others so it creates a better experience and easier to hear the narration over the gun shots.
@Ashley: Thank you for the advice! I'll post this to the Building Better Courses forum today!
@Adam, Thank you for the link! Checking it out now... looks very helpful! Also, thanks for the advice on the sound levels; I was thinking the same thing.
Hi Ashley,
I did post it in the Building Better Courses forum, but unfortunately, as
of now I have not had any responses.
Hoping to see something there soon.

I'm thinking I should be doing this in layers instead of lightboxes or other such effect. Any suggestions, community?
