When creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Storyline courses, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information.
Thanks Wendy. I've found the answer through another post. A dialogue box opens up in the background in Word that asks you to convert it to Rich Text Format. Found it through clicking Alt tab. Thanks for your help :)
HELP, HELP.....I am having same issue with stalling when publishing to Word 2013. I have tried all the suggestions here, I don't see any dialog boxes behind Word that are applicable to this thread.
I am working on local drive, but I am 99% sure that I know the problem and am hoping you will tell me that I'm wrong, or how to fix.
Like an IDIOT, I choose clicked publish without changing the folder it defaults to, C:\Users\e105924\Documents\My Articulate Projects. (Usually I just save to desktop)
The file name is simple. 'Travel and Expense Report Training.story'
So, problem is most likely too many characters for the Fricking thing to deal with, (fricking is not a bad word I hope).
If you have a solution other than loosing 5 hours of work.....sob
I feel your pain :) Just checking - are you on Mac or PC? Sometimes the dialogues boxes are a bit hidden. If you hit Alt and Tab you can see what's running in the background.
If it is the same issue, it wants you to convert it to Rich Text Format so just hit yes :) Hope it works for you!!!
Hoorah! I forgot that Articulate Storyline was set to save every 10 minutes!!!!! I had to use Task Manager to shut it down, when I re-opened, the AS told me it had been 'recovered'!!
This time I saved to my Desktop and had no problems at all publishing to Word.....So Word to the wise, use your local drive and do not bury it in folders!

Hi there,
I moved the file to my local hard drive and it made no difference. It becomes completely unresponsive and I have to use Task Manager to close it down.
Hi Pia
do you want to upload the .story file and I'll try to publish to word and see if I get same behaviour

Another thing, I wondered, well do I have the right version, or this Update 1 thing......I opened Storyline 2 (I still have the stalled fil
Hi Mary!
As long as you have saved the file, this should not cause loss of work.
Have you tried to publish with a shorter name yet?
What version of Storyline are you utilizing?
If you'd like me to take a look at your .story file, you are welcome to share.
