I just tried my first Screen Recording with Storyline, but when I play it, the sound is all messed up. Very herky, jerky... almost sounds like it has been speeded up.... but with gaps.
microphone seems to be just fine. I set up another slide and just recorded sound, it was just fine. and I recorded in a non-Articulate program and it was fine.
but when doing the Screen recording so I can play a demo as a video, the sound doesn't play back properly.
Hmmm . . . just a wild stab here, what do you have for antivirus or spyware/malware software?
And are you using Windows or a Mac w/Parallels? If Windows, try doing a recording in something like Sound Recorder and see if you still have the same issues. If you do, that'd probably eliminate Storyline. If you don't, then we're back with Storyline.
I'm having similar sound issues with screen recording. Using the same mic (with a mixer) in the same location, recorded "regular" slides sound great, but the screen recording is really loud and distorted. Reducing the volume on the finished product isn't going to help because of the distortion. The only difference in the recording process is whether I'm recording the slide narration or using the Screen Record feature.

If you can file a support case also, and include your story file, that would probably be helpful for Articulate in tracking down the issue.
I have the same issue - "herky jerky" is a great description... I have this posted on another thread, too, but this one is more specific to the issues I've encountered and I'm wondering if Articulate support figured it out from the files that were uploaded? I've tried changing recording settings in Windows but nothing seems to fix it. I even have tried to make sure I'm not actively typing while I'm recording and it still happens.

Hi John,
Sounds like it could be the Project Rate (Hz) at which you recorded.
The settings I use are 44100 Hz Mono, 32-bit.
Check what you have - that may be it?
Bruce
Bruce,
I recorded using the Record Screen feature in Storyline. I can't find anything that allows me to set the Project Rate. or find out what that is?
john
Ah...in that case I have no idea - sorry!
Assumed you might be recording extarnally and then re-importing.
Bruce
Hey, John!
Did you use a USB mic or an analog mic plugged into the sound jacks of the PC? If by chance it was an analog mike, try a USB mike instead.
If you did use an analog mic, by chance was there anything else open on your PC besides the Storyline and app you were recording?
No, I am using a USB Logitech h530 mike and headset...
only my web browser open..... because that's where site is that I am doing the tutorial on.....
could be some background stuff.... but still don't have a problem recording directly to a slide..... only when doing a screen recording.

I'm using Windows......
records fine in Sound Recorder and Audacity.
records fine directly to a slide in Storyline.
records like CRAP using Screen Record feature in Storyline.
Here's where I'd file a case with Articulate and include your project file if you can. http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/
Gerry,
thanks.... I just uploaded the file.

It's uploading now. Thanks!
No, thank you for doing that. If it leads to a solution, we all benefit.
Thanks for the thread, guys
@John and @Joyce, we received your cases and are looking into them now...
Peter,
great!..... hope it all makes sense to you.

Okay, I've narrowed the problem, I think.
I am not running it across a network. And directorystructure and naming is fine.
I uninstalled the software and then reinstalled andactivated it.
Still having the same issue.
BUT!!!!!!!!!
I have Storyline on my laptop. And I did a Screen Recordthere and the sound is fine.
The bad file from my desktop still sounds like CRAP on thelaptop, too.
But files I create on the Laptop and transfer to myDesktop sound fine.
There has to be something in my Desktop setup that iscausing the problem.
Any idea???? I'll get my IT guys to see if they can tellme what the differences are.
I recorded on my laptop which is the usual way I record for Articulate. It sounds bad on both my desktop and laptop. :(
Good detective work, John.

Hey Ann,
Just replied to your other post. Let me know if you decide to send in the file and I'll be happy to follow up on it
Hi. I think I'm having similiar problems. Was there ever a good resolution for this?
Hello Janet and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Throwback thread today. This one is a bit dated, but sorry to hear that you've run into a similar issue.
Most of these issues are system specific, but I did take a look at the cases referenced here:
John: No confirmation of resolution
Joyce: Cannot locate
Ann: No case
So, I do not have any further information to share outside of what you can see in this thread as well as this similar one that Peter shared above.
Have you tried all of the suggestions in this thread? Does the issue occur in any file you create or just a single file?
You are welcome to work directly with our support team here as well if you wish.
