Help: User has to click on play button to start timeline
Jul 12, 2013
Hello:
My team recently published a number of storyline modules and uploaded them in our LMS. One of my coworkers came to me and said that when she launched one of the modules, it loaded the first slide just fine but when she clicked next and went to slide #2 the timeline did not start automatically. She had to click the Play button for it to start. Then she noticed that she had to do that for every slide after that within the module.
The weird part is, when I launch the course, I do not have this issue. And, this is only happening to two out of the ten modules she has looked at on her computer. We published all of the modules the same way, and didn't change any of the player settings.
Could this be a setting that needs to be changed, or is this a separate issue?
Thanks.

Hi Sarah,
Welcome to Heroes! Is this issue only occurring with your one co-worker? What is different about her setup versus yours? Are you using the same browsers?
Always Happy to Help,
Adrian
Sarah:
Sorry about that. Odd. If this were happening to me, I'd double-check the modules in which the issue is happening.
I'd go into Story View and off to the right you'll see the slide advance settings for each slide you select. These settings seem to override other setting sometimes. I know you mentioned that you didn't change all of the settings, but I'd probably double-check. Again, sorry about the issue, and welcome to the forum.
Adrian,
Yes, this issue is only happening with my coworker, though, it makes me wonder if others will have this issue when we push these modules out Live. Do you think this could be a browser issue?
Thanks!
Hi All,
I am having the same problem as Sarah has detailed above. I have tried performing a repair but it still hasn't made any differences.
Any suggestions on how to get the timeline to start automatically? Is there any settings on my computer I should be looking for?
Thanks
Amanda
Hi Amanda,
Can you tell us a bit more about when and where you're seeing this issue? It is in your published output or when previewing it? In any particular browser? Did you already check how the slides are set to advance as shown by Daniel?
