Hi, I'm new to Storyline and need to work out how to have a video running and a PowerPoint presentation at the same time, progressing the slides as the presenter talks. Can't seem to find any tutorials to assist.
Thanks for letting me know you're using Storyline 3! Have you tried Storyline's screen recording tool yet? With that tool, you can record the Powerpoint presentation and record audio narration at the same time.
thanks Alyssa but the video is of a presenter the slides but you cant see them from afar so I need the slides to run at same time. I cannot get the presenter to record audio again.
I break the video up into chunks that correspond to the size of the slides, or smaller, if I need to. That is, I have a new video chunk each time I have a new slide.
I import the slide from PowerPoint, and set the slide to advance when the media completes. That way, I can switch between the lecturer and the slide, show both, add points of emphasis, pause for enrichment material, or add interactions.
The most helpful thing I can tell you is: do not put video controls on the slide. Start and end the slide timeline when the video starts and ends. That allows you to use the slide seekbar as the video seekbar, yet keep everything synchronized.
I use the free Movie Maker from Microsoft. It's not a professional editing program, but it's free, doesn't damage the video, and works really well for splitting videos. It also is my preferred method for finding out what time something happens in the video.
I always set the properties of the original to read-only, then save for computer, which gets me an .mp4.

Hi Suzanne,
Articulate Replay is the perfect tool to help you achieve what you're looking to do! A license for Replay comes with your purchase of Storyline.
What version of Storyline do you have?
In the meantime, check out this article to find out how easy it is to add webcam videos to your powerpoint presentations in Replay.
thanks Alyssa, I'm using Storyline 3 so replay isn't available to me. Can you send me any tutorials for doing this on SL3?
