Help with Custom Video Player

I've been attempting to re-create a custom video toolbar with no luck. I can't seem to get a slider that can control the time in the video. Has anyone had any success with this? Link 2 (below) is the best example I've seen.
There is a good example in link 1, except that when you drag the slider it doesn't actually move to that point in the timeline. Close, but not there.

The second link is the default play bar. This is what it looked like in Flash. Just seems more modern in HTML5.
Default play bar in Storyline? That was always a set bar under the video that could not be customized. The one in the image is different than the default I've seen in Storyline.
If you look at the Flash version of the link you'll see the default gray. However, I assume that the browser uses it's default for the HTML5 player. Chrome and Firefox are different colors.
