Help with large video file

Apr 24, 2019

Hi heroes!

I have been asked to upload an 8GB video to our LMS so I was going to pop it into Storyline and wrap it in a SCORM package as our LMS has a 1GB limit.

Two questions/issues I would like help with:

1. I am having issues uploading the video into storyline - error message says that file format is not supported (it is an MP4) - is the file too large?

2. If i do manage to get it onto Storyline, is the SCORM package likely to exceed the 1GB limit?

I have asked the stakeholder if the video could be split into smaller episodes as it is a very long video to expect a user to watch in one go but no success.

Hope someone can help as I am stuck!

Thanks

Danielle

I'm not sure about the file size limit, Articulate Support should be able to answer that for you. The LMS may have an issue with that too. An alternative is to host your video on a video streaming service like Vimeo or Wistia, and then embed the video into your project as a web object. This keeps your Storyline project size very small.

Hi Danielle! Storyline 360 doesn't have a file size limit, but the bigger the file, the more challenging it can be to manage. I'm not certain you can get the published output under 1GB. It will likely depend on your compression and publishing quality settings.

I like Michael's idea about hosting the video externally. Is that an option for your stakeholder?
