Help with State

Sep 17, 2019

Hi I am hoping someone could help me.  I am having issues with my NEXT button appearing and being active even though I have gone through all my triggers 3 or 4 time and cant see where I have stuffed up.  I think the issue is that it is reliant on 3 freeform shapes to visited before it should be active.  These shapes start off on the screen as hidden and when an animation completes they become normal.  Once normal you should have to click on all three freeforms for the next button to appear...but it appears after visiting one one...doesnt matter which one either...  Is there some rule I dont know about or something obvious I could try?  Appreciate any assistance.

Hi Kim

first off, you don't need triggers to change the state when it is a built SL state eg. hover, visited as SL knows automatically what to do so remove these three triggers.

The reason the Next button isn't working is trigger order. SL executes the triggers in order so its saying to jump to the next slide when user clicks so 'off it goes' your next trigger isn't being executed so re-order those two...and you have an issue with your change state trigger - looks like you are referencing the wrong 3 objects - should be 1,2 and 3.

Try making those changes and let me know how you go.

Hi Wendy,

I have made the suggested changes but I still have the same problem.  Please see attached V2 of my story.

I think that this is happening as I have made the condition that the layer can also be viewed if the text box (over the puzzle piece) is also clicked on.  I put a trigger on to say that if you click on the text box to go to the layer that this also marks the freeform as visited.

What I really want to be able to do is have a trigger that says "show layer if freeform 1 or text box 1 are clicked" and then "change state of freeform 1 to visited if freeform 1 or text box 1 are clicked".  Alternatively change state of next button if "freeform 1 or text box one are visted".

I am just not sure how to do this.  I like the puzzle as I think it adds interest but I am wondering if I should just have regular shapes to click on...

Appreciate any help you can give me...

show layer if freeform 1 or text box 1 are clicked"

Ok I think I'm confused...Text Box 1 is the HB25 text tag and Freeform 1 is FILMBUILD?

Are you saying you want the text tag on each puzzle piece to be clickable as well as the puzzle piece? plus I'm not seeing a difference in the visited state to the normal state so you are not expecting the user to see a visual change of what they have already clicked on?

Groups drive me crazy so I would group each text tag and puzzle piece and export them as a picture then import back in and just use the picture as the object - but that is your call.

Thanks Wendy,

That seems like a brilliant idea!

Thank you so much. I also just saw a video on how to copy button triggers
into shapes using format painter so I will try both of those option and see
which works.
I really appreciate all of your help.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
