Help with state functionality on master slide

Apr 09, 2018

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to set up a glossary on a course that's accessed by a glossary button throughout the whole course. I'm trying to set it up so that when the user clicks on the glossary button, the button shows a master slide layer with a bunch of clickable terms. When the user clicks each of the terms the state changes (I tried using layers but layers within layers on master got a bit funky) and the definition shows up which is great. But what i need to happen is when the user clicks the next definition, the previous state goes back to normal automatically so that only one state is "selected" at a time.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

I've mocked up the interaction to show you what I mean. Click the info button to show the definition.

So glad and grateful for this community by the way!!!

Hi Sue,

Sounds like you want to use a button set. Select your buttons > right click > button set > add to button set 1. Storyline will automatically reset other buttons back to the normal state when another button within that set is selected.

Adding buttons to sets sometimes causes Storyline to automatically add states to your buttons too though, so make sure to delete the states you don't want (this won't hurt the functionality).
