hidding and showing objects

I'm still finding my feet with storyline so apologies if the answer is blindingly obvious
I have a list of training objectives on my slide. Rather than just have a boring list i thought i would have a button for each with a relevant logo. When the user clicks the button the objective is explained. I achieved this simply using layers, so far so good.
Then i thought wouldn't it be great if once I had viewed the layer the written objective would remain in view and that is where the headache began. I have tried all sorts of trigger variations without success.
Any advice or ideas welcome

Hi, by default the layer properties are set to hide other layers. If you go in to the layer properties for each layer and deselect this option you should get the results you are after.
Nancy,
You are a star...I was trying to be far too clever. Simple when you know how
Much appreciated
