Am looking at using some JavaScript code on a button to hide the menu (some of the content is small, so this will allow more real estate room to display it). The script I've found works with the Modern player but not the Classic. Anyone have any success doing this?

You should be able to customize everything through the Player properties.
If you want the Menu to be gone altogether (not necessary), then just uncheck it in the Player properties.
If you want it to be an overlay (instead of on the sidebar), move it to the Topbar.
If you want it to stay on the side, but not be visible initially, check the "Sidebar starts collapsed" box.
