Hint box flickering

Oct 27, 2021

Hello people,

In simulations for SAP trainings, I have multiple hint boxes in various spots (fields) with important explanations. The hint boxes have like 4-5 lines each, with the help of hotspots they appear when user hovers over them and disappear when user moves cursor out.

It was working alright when I tested it last week but now the hint boxes are flickering really fast & randomly, making it hard for reader to read the text. It is so random. I'm just so tired of something or the other going wrong with the simulations. Regret creating them. Moving to videos for next set, somehow want to make these ones happen. Thx

The cursor hovers over the hotspot, and the trigger makes the hint box appear, between the hotspot and the cursor. That cuts off the cursor from the hotspot, and it thinks the cursor is no longer hovering, and resets to original condition on hover out.

Ditch the hotspots, and use shapes. Then you can build the hint as the hover state. Be sure the hover shape is as large as the normal state, or the same thing will happen.

Hello Namita,

Thank you for the update and for sharing the screenshot. I can see that you're using the hover trigger to display a layer. We have an open issue that we are currently tracking, and I've added this conversation to our report.

  • The layer does not flicker if your mouse cursor is hovered over the object on the base slide but is not directly on top of the object in the slide layer.

Do you know what version of Storyline you're using?

  • You can check by going to Help > About Articulate Storyline.
