Hotspots Freeform

Oct 23, 2017

Hi,

Is there an easy way to add hotspots to the map of England, please? I am struggling with the borders and am fearful that it may not be precise. It would be ideal if there was an automated way to do this?

Automated? no.

What you can do is to drop your map into a graphics editor (Paint.Net is more than adequate for this). If the areas you want are distinct colors, select by color (magic wand), save as a new image, and erase the interior. Save the shape, and import it into your slide. It will accept all the triggers a hotspot will. If you can't select by color, you can make a selection with the lasso tool, then change the settings to add or subtract from the selection, and adjust it until it is what you want.

Alternatively, use PowerPoint. Draw a shape over the map, and edit the points until it is what you want and import into SL.

Paint.NET is free image and photo editing software for PCs that run Windows. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.
It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the Microsoft Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple image and photo editor tool. It has been compared to other digital photo editing software packages such as Adobe® Photoshop®, Corel® Paint Shop Pro®, Microsoft Photo Editor, and The GIMP.

The LLC (company) name is dotpDN, and the name of the software is paint.net.  My evaluation of its capabilities is that if it is not adequate for your needs, then you know way too much about graphic design and creation to need advice from a forum like this, or anybody else.
