hover and click features on same item behaving weird

Apr 11, 2013

Hi everyone,

I'm having some dramas getting 3 photos to behave correctly. Each of them has a trigger to move to a new slide when clicked, but each of them ALSO has a trigger to reveal a layer when the mouse hovers over.

The problems I'm having are that

1) the layers don't always remain once the mouse moves away (even though I have deselected "restore on mouse leave")

2) the triggers to click through don't seem to cover the entire photo, only 30% of the photo is clickable

Any ideas, I'd appreciate greatly!

Hi Russell!

Have you tried using a custom state, rather than the built-in hover state? Try that and remove the hover state. Then trigger the state when the user's mouse hovers over the image. Does that work better for you?

Or, if you're using the hover state and a trigger, try removing the trigger. The hover state should function on it's own without the trigger and I've seen some instances where using both the state and trigger cause issues.

If you're unable to get this working, can you share the .STORY file so I can take a quick look?

Thanks!

Russell, see attached file that fixes the issues you described.

For 1.) One of the layers had the "hide other slide layers' option selected and that's why the layers sometimes didn't seem to stick.

For 2.) Some of the pics on the layers, e.g. the hand bag pic on the Complaint layer have a transparent background that overlaps quite a large portion of the clickable picture on the baselayer. While the background of thses pics is not visible, it would still catch the click event, rather than the picture on the baselayer. I moved the Jump to triggers from the base layer to the other layers and attached them to transparent shapes that sit on top of all the other elements.
