Hover and Visited States of Images turning blank

Feb 05, 2018

Hi,

Since the recent updates of Storyline 360, the hover states and visited states of my images turn to 'no fill'/blank. I have tried reimporting them and trying other images, but nothing seems to work.

Seems this only impacts Picture Outline on hover. Shadow or additional shapes in hover state do not impact it.

Is anyone else having the same issues?

Can someone please investigate this?

Current workaround is to apply a coloured shadow instead of hover picture outline.

Hi David,

Several people were having issues with the update from Jan 31.

Have you tried installing the latest, latest update? https://articulate.com/support/article/Articulate-Storyline-360-Version-History

I was having issues with my states too, so did a system restore to a previous version and that worked. I have not yet updated to today's version.

Just got answer from support:

I was able to replicate the issue and I have logged it as a possible software bug.

The issue appears to be caused by adding lines to the states of the picture/object. As a workaround, I would suggest not to use lines with your states.

The workaround is no option for us, there are a lot of these interactions in our courses.

Hope this will be fixed very soon

I have the same problem. In several projects with hover states and an outline around a picture, the picture in the normal state disappears after mouse has hovered. This is really bad :-(

If I remove line it works. The same problem with both outline, outline picture and changing frame for a picture... This must be fixed asap!

Mikael, I agree, this bug stops our entire production process. Please aloso report it to Articulate Support

Hi everyone,

Really sorry for all of the headaches this issue is causing you! I wanted to confirm that we are seeing a problem in Storyline 360 where states are not working correctly if the states include a solid outline.

This issue is a priority for us, and we're working on a fix as we speak. As soon as that fix is released, we'll let you know here.

Some folks have found that adding a shadow effect in addition to the solid outline will correct the issue, so you may want to try that workaround in the meantime.

I'll keep you posted on any progress we make!

For the time being I have updated my current story files to be a Shadow with a 0% transparency of the same colour as the outline was supposed to be. It does not exactly look like it did before - i.e. blur/fade impact, but it closely resembles it (can adjust blur settings to remove this).

I recommend doing this if it is halting or causing a large backlog of work for you.

Note: if you are using more than 2px for an outline, just increase the size of the shadow and remove blur.

Hopefully Team Articulate will find the solution soon and we should not need to do this work around for too long.

Hope that helps for all those following this post.
