Hover over object/text box appears Storyline 3

Nov 01, 2017

I am sure this has been discussed before but I can't find anything. I am trying to create a text box that appears when I hover over an item on my screen. I know I have to do something with States. I can't get it to work. Either the text box is always there or it is never there. I created a hotspot and I want the text box to appear when the user hovers over the item on the screen and disappear when they move the mouse away. Help?

Hi John,

I followed your lead and checked out how this works using States. Here's how I was able to do it - text box appears only when user hovers over an object (shape or hotspot), and then it disappears when mouse pointer is hovering outside the object.

  1. Set the text box's Initial state to 'Hidden';
  2. Select the shape or hotspot and set up the trigger as below:

Make sure to put a check mark on the 'Restore on mouse leave' so that the text box disappears again (back to its initial state) when not hovering over the object.

Hope this helps.
