Hover/Selected states

Jan 22, 2013

Hi all

I have created two buttons with three states - Normal, Hover and Selected.

Button one: When you hover over the button, it turns blue and shows a tooltip. When you select it, it shows you a lightbox slide.

The issue I'm having with this is that when you then close the lightbox slide and return to the main course, the button retains its hover state. I'm guessing because it loses focus before the mouse leaves the button so it never gets to return to its normal state?

Button two: This shows a transcript popup - the button acts as a toggle. The issue here is this is shown on a different layer, so when you hover over the button, it still shows its hover state beneath that layer.

Can anyone help me with either of these problems?

Many thanks,

Sally

Sally,

I'm also seeing the same behavior on the first issue.  I believe you're right about the focus.  If you would, please submit a support case so that our developers can take a look at this.  http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/submit.php  It would seem that it should pop back to the selected state when the light box closes.

As for the second issue, in the slide layer properties (found by clicking the gear icon to the right of the slide layer name), if you select "Prevent user from clicking on the base layer", you should be able to disable this behavior.

I hope this helps,

Mike

Hi Mike

Thanks for the reply - I will submit a support case as you say.

As for the other issue, I'm afraid preventing the user from clicking on the base layer isn't an option as I need the user to navigate round the course with this layer present. Is there any other way round it or will I need to change the behaviour of the button?

Thanks again,

Sally

Unable to do that I'm afraid.

The button is a toggle on/off for a transcript pane that updates its text per page - so as the user navigates through the course, the transcript pane will be visible on the right hand side. The issue is that you can still rollover the transcript button and therefore give it a hover state.

I just wondered if there was a way to disable that button's states perhaps? Or even better, keep it on its 'Selected' state once it's been clicked.

HI Sally, here is the solution for button one.

clicking on the button you are showing the light box right? same time add one more trigger to change the state of the same button to normal state.

make sure that your change state triger should move it in  first then light box trigger, please see the attached file for your ref.

can you please give me some more inputs on your second button issue . i can have a look and fix it
