Hover Triggers Won't Work

Oct 17, 2017

Hey all,

I was making a proof of concept piece in SL 360 where rectangles around buttons on a background image go from hidden to normal state when the user hovers over them. There's more but that is as far as I got. The hover triggers won't work. It is as if there is no trigger at all.

I tried both importing the page and copying and pasting the page items into fresh SL instances to no avail. What am I missing here. (It has to be something really obvious, right?)

I've attached my .story file sans the background image. Everything else is the same.

Thanks for your help, heroes!

Hi there Allen,

I'm happy to help! Since the object is technically "hidden", the mouse can't hover over the object, and the change state trigger won't work.

Instead, try using a shape with 100% transparency for the "Normal" state so it appears hidden. Have a look at the example I made on slide 1.2 of your file, and let me know if that will work for you!

Alyssa,

Thanks for riding to my rescue! That makes complete sense now that you have pointed it out. I guess that makes you the brains between the two of us <grin>.

In the interim, I actually came up with something similar. I made a new state called Invisible, set the object transparencies to 100% and set Invisible as the initial state.

Thanks again,
