How can I fix the process steps modified from Process Template

Feb 22, 2021

To create an interactive process, I took a slide template Illuminate Process with 8 steps. I needed 12 steps and started duplicating circles for process steps without realising that there were in-built groups with respective states and triggers (silly me!). Now some of the process steps act illogically, e.g. the "ring" around a clicked circle (state selected) stays on even after the user clicks another circle. The problem has probably something to do with my incomplete copying - maybe instead of copying all elements of the circle I just copied the color-filled circle - or something. I tried to fix it from triggers and states but it all seems a big mess now. I cannot even find the triggers that control how the other circles behave when one circle is clicked - the outer (darker) ring of the individual process circle should chance back to normal state when the user clicks any other circle. Now some of the outer rings stay on even when the user clicks another circle.

Please is there any easy way to fix this or do I have to start from the beginning again (huge work, since I am only a beginner with Storyline...).

Hi, Anu!
It looks like you are copying the individual objects instead of the groups. No worries, this is an easy fix! You’ll find that each group on the timeline contains the oval, with the different states, and the textbox. When copying the group, you’re also copying the triggers to open the layers.

I’d recommend hiding the main textbox from the base layer when adding a new circle. To hide the main textbox, click on the eye icon next to the object on the timeline. Here’s what that looks like:

There are many little processes happening in this template! If you feel comfortable sharing your .story file in this discussion. I’m sure others in the community might be able to offer suggestions as well!

Let me know if this helps!
