How can I get layers appear on timeline without a button trigger?

Jun 03, 2014

I am trying to get two text boxes to occur (like text animation in PPT) by placing them on the timeline.  There is no trigger, like clicking a figure or button.  How can I do this?

The title of your post mentions layers while the description suggests you have two text boxes on the baselayer. To animate textboxes you can just stagger them along the timeline. To display a layer at a certain point without user interaction, you could use an offstage object that has a trigger attached, which shows the layer at the beginning of the object's timeline. See attached a quick example that shows both staggered textboxes and an offstage object. Hope that helps.

Hi Bobbie and welcome to Heroes!

It looks like Michael has you covered with both elements you mentioned - and I also just wanted to share that if you were looking to have animations applied to the objects when they appear on the timeline, this tutorial describes how to apply them and what options are available.
