The perspective shadow is intriguing! But, for my purposes the default values need a bit of adjustment. In particular, I would like to have a more subtle shadow, with greater transparency, and softer edges. Is there a way to achieve this easily? It doesn't seem to matter which shadow options I change, the perspective shadow stays the same.
not sure if these definitions of all the options will help you:
Color To choose a color for the shadow, click Color , and then click the color that you want. To change to a color that isn't in the theme colors, click More Colors, and then either click the color that you want on the Standard tab, or mix your own color on the Custom tab. Custom colors and colors on the Standard tab are not updated if you later change the document theme.
Transparency To specify how much you can see through the shadow, move the Transparency slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider. You can vary the percentage of transparency from 0 (fully opaque, the default setting) to 100% (fully transparent).
Size To specify the size of the shadow relative to the size of the original object, move the Size slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider.
Blur To set the radius of the blur on the shadow, move the Blur slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider. The larger the radius, the blurrier, or "fuzzier", the object will be.
Angle To specify the angle at which the shadow is drawn, move the Angle slider or enter a number in the box next to the slider. By using the Angle and Distance options together, you can place the shadow anywhere relative to the shape.
Distance To set the distance that the shadow is drawn in the Angle of the shadow, enter a number in the box next to the slider.
Which perspective option are you selecting that you need help with?
Thanks so much for your reply. I must be doing something wrong, because it sounds like all of these lovely options that you mention work for you.
What I see, when I select any of the options from here: Shape Effect--> Shadow-->Perspective
is that the effect is applied to my object, as it should be, but I want to make changes, so I go to
Shape Effect--> Shadow-->Shadow Options
From there, none of my changes take effect.
I have tried changing all of the options offered there, and none of the changes are applied to the perspective shadow that was set earlier. I like the perspective shadow, but I want it to look different from the default. I have tried all the different perspective shadows, and I am not able to customize any of them. So is there another way to get to the option dialog? Am I in the wrong place to customize?
you're right there is an issue. My apologies I have been doing some work in SL1 and it works as expected there...I haven't had the need to use in SL2. Same setup below - left is SL1 and right is SL2
It looks like our QA team is aware of some issues with perspective shadow properties in SL2, so they're currently investigating the issue. I don't have any updates to share, but I'll include this thread in one of the reports filed so that I can share any updates with you here once available.
