I have a slide with a list of words on the slide and I want for the user to be able to click the word and it give you information about that word.... What is the best way to accomplish this? Thanks in advance.
I would simply put a trigger on a text box to show another layer with the information you want to display when clicked. And I would also put a "hover" state on that text box so that the text would change color or have some other effect when hovering to encourage users to click on it.
Or, make the list of words each a button so that the states are already built in.
You can add a hyperlink trigger to individual words by highlighting the word and then right-clicking and selecting Hyperlink from the menu. Then you can set that trigger to do whatever you want, e.g. show another layer when clicked or moused over, etc.

Oh, yes, Brett's option of a hyperlink is faster than my original text box with trigger option!
