How do I make customizable prompts without having to add triggers?

Oct 16, 2014

Hi!

I came across the Invalid Answer prompt (screenshot above) as I was testing a course. I tried to look for a way to customize it and I came across this video (http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-create-a-custom-invalid-answer-message-on-drag-and-drop-interactions).

I tried it out and it does work. However, the courses we create generally have drag and drop instances in almost every scene and every scene has at least 8 elements. It seems very time consuming to have to create triggers for each of them.

I was wondering if anyone knew a workaround for this without using triggers?

Thanks!

Hi Chelsea and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

Sounds like you are more interested in just modifying the text of this feedback.

  1. Go to the Home tab, and click the Player button.
  2. When the Player Properties editor opens, click the Text Labels button on the toolbar.
  3. Scroll down to items 16 (Invalid Answer) and 17 (Invalid Answer Text), and edit the Custom Text as desired.
  4. Click OK to save your changes.

Thanks, Leslie! I actually want to also customize the look of the prompt. I was able to do that by following the video I linked but it required triggers that were too time-consuming to set up. Was wondering if there was a way to do it just like how the Correct and Incorrect layers are done.

Also, Chelsea, in case you're not yet familiar with this feature, you can copy and paste triggers, which is a real time-saver. You can copy/paste triggers on the trigger panel, on the left side of your window, like so:

Noted, Belen! I could play around with this and see if it could help with making the trigger hassle less of an issue.
