How do I run a Storyline Presentation from Google Sites
Aug 17, 2016
Hello, Storyline Heroes! I have previously built a biology writing game that was formerly shared on google drive. Our campus is no longer using Google drive for website hosting. Google sites and Drupal Lite are alternative options but I do not know how to get my game to work from either type of site. I found a few old posts about this but it was not clear to me what I actually need to do to get this to work. Has anyone had success with this? Does anyone have step-by-step instructions? Thank you so much in advance for any assistance you can provide.
PS: The old google drive link to my game is here in case anyone wants to see what I'm trying to do.

This doesn't specifically address google sites or drupal lite, but it may get you started in the right direction and does offer some alternatives to those options.

Hi Brian G,
Thanks for reaching out and I suspect you're moving the course off of Google Drive, as they're no longer supporting hosting there. I'm not familiar with Drupal or the use of Google sites, but as Brian A linked to, there are a few other options such as Amazon S3 or Dropbox you could look at using.
Yes, Google Drive content is going away.
Thanks Brian. Hmm. . .Amazon S3 might not work. I don't expect a ton of traffic but am unwilling to pay if my traffic exceeds the limits. Dropbox is fine for sharing but I need a weblink I can give to my class and give to people at conferences if they want to try out the game.

But I couldn't understand what the solution actually was, or if it is still possible as this post was a few years old.
It looks like "Google Sites" is actually going to just be "Google Domains" - https://domains.google/
From what I can tell at a glance you can acquire a domain name thru Google and easily link it to web hosts like weebly, wix, blogger, etc. Here's an article on Google Drive being deprecated with links to alternatives that Google is recommending - https://support.google.com/drive/answer/2881970?hl=en
I'm not familiar enough with any of the hosts partnering with google on this but my guess is that they all will have some sort of admin panel that you can use to upload content.
My guess is also that bandwidth constraints on basic hosting agreements will be comparable, if not more expensive than the Amazon S3 option. All in all Amazon is a very easy to use alternative, and even after the free introductory period it is my understanding that your service thru them is only dollars on the year, very reasonable.
I stand corrected - Google Sites.... https://apps.google.com/products/sites/
Their domain service integrates with their sites product, along with other web hosts
Looks like you can find some basic info on using google sites here - https://apps.google.com/learning-center/products/sites/#/list
