How do you delete a Results Slide in Storyline?

Aug 25, 2020

Hello,

I need to update a Storyline Project that a former coworker created. The project has a Results slide that I no longer need. What is the best way to delete the Results slide?

Thanks.

Hi John,

From what you have said above it sounds as if you may be looking in the wrong place for your Results slide. You will not see Results slides inside your Question Banks, but should be able to locate them after the Draw from Question Bank slides in your course (note that they may not necessarily be the next slide, but must occur after the related "Draw from . . ." slide):

If you still can't locate the Results slide, check that the original author didn't place the Results slides in a separate Scene (select Story View to view all scenes in your course).

If you still can't locate the Results slide, are you able to post a copy of your Storyline file here so that I can have a look?

Hi John,

I am a little bit confused here.  The file that you've enclosed has just a single question that doesn't have a Results slide associated with it, hence why it cannot be found. Is it an actual Results slide you are trying to delete or is it the overlays that inform the student whether or not they have answered the question correctly?  If it is the latter, then it is the layers in the quiz slide that you want to remove.

The simplest way to do this is to go to the Form View in the quiz slide and select "None" in the Feedback drop-down list:

Hi Ned, I'm sorry I wasn't 100% clear in my previous post. The issue is not the one quiz question, which currently has "None" set for the Results slide, it concerns some of the slides that are not quiz questions that have an "Edit Results Slide" button above the Trigger panel (see attached image or slide 1.7). This may have caused some issues when we deployed a previous version of this module to our LMS last year. The easiest way may be to just create new slides, but I’m trying to determine why we’re seeing this “Edit Results Slide” button on what appear to be non-quiz question slides. We’d love to solve the mystery!

Hi John,

For whatever reason, it appears that the original author set up the course using quiz slide layouts for a number of the slides. I assume at some stage these had questions associated with them that were subsequently removed, but the formatting was not changed.

The easiest solution for you is to create a clean copy of each of the offending slides:

1.  Select a slide and press Ctrl + M to create a new blank slide.

2.  On the new slide, select the "Click to add title" text block and press Delete.

3.  On the original slide, unlock the background layer by deselecting the padlock (this enables you to copy it):

4.  Drag the mouse over the entire slide to select all of its contents and press Ctrl + C to copy.

5.  Click on your new blank slide and press Ctrl + V to paste the contents of your original slide.

Once you have done this for each slide, remove the original versions and you should have a course that no longer has the "Edit Result Slide" button.
