How do you keep the Stroy View from freaking out?

Mar 04, 2013

It seems that every once in a while, the Story View zoom will take on a mind of it's own.  Nothing seems to get it working riigt.  Usually the issue is everything is "over-zoomed" but sometimes it is the other way.

The ctrl mouse option does not help and nor does the zoom slider or restore button.

Any guidance?

This project...100 slides, 6 scenes

Thanks

Hi Todd,

First, try to make sure you're working with local files. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate). Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article

Second, try to make sure your system is running 96 DPI. Storyline doesn't currently support 120 DPI. If your system is set to 120 DPI, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:

  • Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.
  • Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.
  • Zoomed images don't work as expected.
  • Font sizes are incorrect after using the translation features.

Here's how you can switch to 96 DPI.

If you're still seeing issues with the zoom feature in Story view, please try restarting your machine. Once you're working on a project, try to close any additional programs in the background that you aren't currently using.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!

Thanks Christine!

These are good things to know.

I'm currently building with a 3GB story  (.Story size) with a 180mb published size and everything is working really well.  In fact, other than managing an issue with hugh cache expansion duing inporting of stories,, I'm blown away by the stability of the product. If you can pass me any additional technical deatails, I'd be appreciateive.

I am seeing some odd behavior with state mangement.  (buttons showing one state and acting in another)  Unfortunatley not possible to replicate. and just re-previerwing or building the product gets everything working again.

Keep up the good work.
