You cannot delete the caption, but you can set it to audio only which will prevent the caption showing. Click on the Marker then choose Marker Options from the top tab and then audio only on the right of the tab.
I dont believe you can rotate the marker under normal conditions, but there is a cheat, create a rectangle or circle that is 28x28 make this shape transparent, align the shape and marker to top and left and then group. Press ctrl+shift+enter and then rotate on the size tab.

to move the caption hold it and drag in any of 8 directions round the clock.
I want to rotate the marker itself and delete the caption.

Fantastic work around. I needed to change a marker to a diamond. Rotating a square solved the issue! :-)
