how does this site work?!

I don't know if I am violating protocol or if I am posting my question in the wrong place, so I apologize in advance. The is no "Getting started" document for this site (that I can find) and there is no way to search (that I can find.)and the 3 links at the top do not lead to any useful information. If you have an answer to my question(s) please email the link to robin.mccraw@liebherr.com. I do not know where to search for an answer.
I have tried EVERY possible way I know how including google searching to find the answers to these questions.
1. how do you make a template for a markers. I need to be able to apply it as a default (found the answer to this one) but I also need to be able to apply a format to an existing marker. There is a list of pre-determined color schemes, but I can't get my specifications on the list. Ditto for text boxes and shapes. How can I save the default settings to apply to text boxes already created? I am talking hundreds of elements. on both markers and shapes.
2. How can I stop the program from resizing my images as I import them. I do a lot a photoshop work to create a page layout and I am continually resizing after I import
3. How can I copy and graphic on 1 slide and paste it on another at the same size and at the same coordinates. I currently have to go back to the first slde and write down the H/W and V/H numbers to enter them on the second page.
4. How can I setup a second visit to a page and reset the slide or not keep its current state depending on my variable?
5. How can you maintain or reset variable values in sequence? For example I want to set a variable on the slide master as a default on every slide, but change it after the timeline has started on the slide? i.e. delaying the variable change.
And it is very frustrating when experts have answered 3 different software operational queries with solutions that do not work on my system. It would be nice to know that a particular solution will not work with your (insert op system/hardware/software here). And yes, I have really searched for these answers and this is my last resort.
6. The slide icons in storyview and in the left page panel have shrunk to minuscule proportions. I have reinstalled the software, restarted my machine, even did a system restore. Nothing.
7. New layers default to feedback masters. According to an expert, select the layer and a new layout to change the master on the layer. However, only feedback masters appear in the layout list. I have to create a feedback master designed as a slide master. However, it is getting old, to recreate master I have a ready created in the program.
8. Finally, I can't change the order of slides in story view. I can't determine if slide 5.6 will go to slide 5.7 on [next] or if [next] will take it to the next slide in the path laid out in storyview. I have tried endless times to drag slide into a new order and it works about 5% of the time. Why doesn't this work? It doesn't seem like anyone else is having issues with the latter 3 items, but that can't be true.
I am working on a HP PC with Windows 7. I can run 8 items from Adobe Master Suite without an issue or memory and processor speed are not the root problems. .

To the right of the three tabs that you referenced, you should see a magnifying glass, and that will open up your search window.

1. Also, how do you get to the article whose link you sent me without having a link provided?
2. The page accessed by your link is lovely, but there is no search function. how do you get the content listed on that page ? I would love to see the “browsable content, creative examples” and especially the “Product Hubs with tutorials, how-tos, articles, best practices, and advice on using Articulate software” in the new product hubs. There are no links on the page. And no search function.

I am NOT stupid and I can’t navigate this site.
I tried another option:
3. click the help tab in storyline for the Articulate website. it takes me to sales page with a link to an eLearning heroes page (theoretically – the link actually takes you to another Articulate page). This page has ANOTHER link to eLearning heroes.
4. This next page says it is “eLearning heroes”, but like the first screen I found (where I started a “discussion” for help yesterday) there is no search function and a bunch of content links none of which relate to me or my questions.
Is there any way to have a few technical questions answered by a developer?
BTW since I posted the discussion some well-meaning souls have been emailing me tips on basic Storyline functions that did not answer my questions. That is a bit discouraging.

I don’t the images were needed for my earlier message (I am a trainer, I think I use overkill in explaining things sometimes.. ☺)
Basically
1. There is no search icon – no matter how hard and how often I look. I agree that it may be a browser issue. I am using IE 10.0.9200.17148. Unfortunately I have no choice in the Browser because out IT will not let us install anything else. I really HOPE it is not a browser issue because it seems that I’ll be out of options.
2. When I go to “Welcome to the New E-Learning Heroes “ (the link you sent - thank you very much) there are no links. None except for “Bookmark”, “Subscribe” and “Share” none of which provide any content. I agree that the article is great, but there are no tools, no process instructions and no functionality whatsoever. Except of course for the illusive magnifying glass that does not appear on this page either.
3. The homepage (I think) is https://community.articulate.com/. It has a bunch of “boxes” with links but once I click one, there is no way to navigate away from the page. Except of course for “Bookmark”, “Subscribe” and “Share” none of which provide any content.
I SO appreciate your help, but I seriously need a solution. I’ve looked at the footer, but there is no way to find the info that I need. I have been using screenr.com for tutorials, but this is beyond their scope. When I click the “E-Learning Community” link from this site I am redirected to https://community.articulate.com/ which again has no open navigation and no search icons.
Is no one else in the world having this problem?? As far as I can tell this is the only help that Articulate offers. Can someone add a search link in the footer? Please? I can’t find any documentation. IS there any documentation? I would be happy to use PDF documentation until we can find a solution. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but my company paid a lot of money for this software. Articulate should offer some kind of support. Or if it is only offered through this site, pay to have a usability analyst re-work the site. There should be multiple ways of reaching the content. (Again, I appreciate your help and do not mean to be disrespectful but I am getting frustrated and my deadline is approaching. If I have to rework all of my markers and text boxes I need to know soon.)

Storyline will rescale your images if the size of the imported image is taller or wider than your stage size. Two solutions here:
1) Make sure your image is exported to match the story size. Default is 720x540.
2) Resize your story size to match your desired image size by selecting the Design tab and choosing the Story Size button on the left-hand side.
3. How can I copy and graphic on 1 slide and paste it on another at the same size and at the same coordinates. I currently have to go back to the first slde and write down the H/W and V/H numbers to enter them on the second page.
Copy and paste from one slide to another copies and pastes the size and coordinates for me. Check your system DPI settings. At other than 96dpi, things act strangely in Storyline.
Thanks for responding! I don't how you saw this question since I can't navigate to the knowledge base to post it. The images are nowhere close to the stage size. Why would I want to resize the story? Storyline is sporadically making the imported image either smaller or larger than it is actual size.

Need a little more detail here to help determine aims. Page state will restore based on the properties of the slide (little gear icon in your layers panel):
Reset to Initial State will set your slide and layers back to zero. Resume saved will reset the slide to the last visited condition (timeline progress, button / object states).
If you want to vary the state based on a variable condition, your best bet is likely Reset to Initial State and using triggers to set the object and layer states where you want them.
Give me an example:

Variables are changed via triggers. Triggers are fired using events (mouse events, timeline events) You can update a trigger on a delay using a trigger attached to an object that is set to enter the stage at a certain time. You can also add triggers to cuepoints in Storyline 2 or set them to fire on a delay. Lots of options:)

Really sounds like there is a problem with the DPI settings on your workstation.

Layers use feedback masters. Base slides use slide masters. If you want a layer to use a master that you have in your slide masters, you'll have to create that as a feedback master. They are separate. Normally these are for different purposes (layers layer above the base). Some folks use layers as new slide states. This is a fair play but not really what layers were designed for. The alternative in changing a slide state is to create a new slide rather than a new layer.
