How to capture text entry in LMS with SCORM

Jul 23, 2014

Hello,

I am not sure what I am doing wrong here and any help would be appreciated.

I am publishing a module to our LMS that includes both quizzes and single line text entry questions.

I know how to upload a package to the LMS (select SCORM, select tracking I want, zip...) but either there is a bug or I am doing something wrong with reporting.
I am unable to see the text entry when reporting. We do wish to see the text.

Would anyone be able to guess what I am doing wrong/point me to the appropriate thread to answer this question?

Thanks so much!

Hi Will,

Is the text entry part of a quiz question such as a fill in the blank, short answer, etc.? Or is it a data entry field? The latter will capture the results as a variable, but the variable is not reported to an LMS - although you can set it up to be reported.

Also, you will want to check that your LMS will support reporting on the actual answers the user has selected or answered.

Thanks for the quick response!

The text is part of a survey question - short answer.

I should clarify, that maybe it is our LMS (Blackboard). I create a results slide and I select the results slide for the reporting - I bring everything into our LMS (SCORM). In the grade centre I can see the short answer response. But when I download a CSV file for a report there is nothing there in the CSV.

Maybe I am doing something wrong for capturing that info from Articulate's end, or maybe it is something with the LMS.

Thanks again. I think it's on our LMS's side of things.

Just to say, the support on this site is FABULOUS!

Hi there Will!

If you're concerned that it may be an LMS issue, I recommend reaching out to your LMS to see if they've heard of this issue. If so, perhaps they could provide some suggestions or at least help you pinpoint the issue.

Also, I wanted to thank you for the awesome feedback! I'll definitely share this with our team :)

In the meantime, if we can be of any assistance, please let us know!

Christine
