How to control when a user can advance to the next slide without completing all drag and drop items correctly

Sep 09, 2017

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Storyline 3 and have just completed my first mini-course.  Learners watch a video (slide 1), then they drag and drop 4 items into one of of three targets (slide 2).  The targets are 1. correct  2.  incorrect  and 3.  not sure.  I used layers on slide 2 for the drag and drop activity to provide specific feedback after each item is placed on a target.  Incorrect or not sure responses show the part of video that pertains to that item, and correct responses show a correct response and tell why it is correct.

I am not using the player, as I have used my own buttons for learners to navigate.  I can't seem to find on any tutorial or discussion how to make it so the learners cannot advance to the last slide (slide 3) without getting all 4 drag and drop items correct.

I appreciate any and all help!  I am an aspiring e-learning hero (current ID student) and have Storyline 3.  If it's helpful to see my file, please advise the best way to share it.

Thank you!

Lauren

Hi Lauren,

you can use a variable in combination with your "jump to next slide"-trigger.

I think it should work best with a true/false variable. You can then change the variable from false to true when all items are dropped correct (or however you named the state). And your jump to next slide when user clicks next-button has to have the condition "when variable is true".

If this is too complicated, you can share your slide here via the "add attachment" button and we can have a look into it. :)

Greetings,

Susi
