I need a single file/link for a presentation I created in Storyline. The website I need to post to requires a link to YouTube, so I think I need to convert to an MP4 file. Soultions, anyone?
I have Replay and I just created a project in Storyline 2 that includes video clips inserted into the slides. I am new to publishing but I need to know how the steps to export the Storyline project over to Replay so I can then publish it into MP4 format to send out to my coworkers. Anyone able to give me the specig=fic steps to do this, PLEASE???????
You can't import it into Replay, but you could use Replay to record Storyline playing - either in Preview or once published and upload to a testing site. Replay than will publish to MP4. Here are more details on how to use Replay.
More detail then the general Replay tutorials is needed as I am new to Articulate.
I know that I have to do a screen recording of the Storyline 2 entire project using Replay ... what are the specific steps to doing that? You said Preview or publish in storyline2 - but how do I get it over to Replay to allow for that? Publish in web or CD format and then which file gets imported to another site/ or directly to Replay? Where are the testing sites or how do I get one? An old blog response mentioned Screenr software - is that an option or is that outdated and Replay can do what I need it to do.... Please advise

Could you please advise whether this process is still the same with Articulate 360? Is there any quicker way to get a Storyline project into MP4 format? I've been asked to create very brief, non-interactive software simulations and I don't have Camtasia/similar.
There isn't a change to this behavior yet within Storyline, but if you're just looking to create the non interactive software simulation, just look at recording it within Storyline using the "screen recording" feature and then you'll use the options there to export as MP4.
It seems pretty obvious this standard feature is being withheld to force us into their rather expensive "Articulate Online" hosting. If they give us MP4's we can host for much less money on YouTube or Vimeo.
Users have many options for publishing and sharing their content and Articulate Online is not required, but is simply an option if needed.
Storyline is utilized to build interactive e-learning courses and publishing as a single video takes the interactivity portion out of the equation.
As Ashley has shared above, there are ways to utilize Storyline to 'screen record' and you can then export that as an MP4 to be utilized in this way.
I know that other users have shared a need for similar and you are certainly welcome to share your desire for this feature as well here with our product development team.
The screen record option is not useful. It has to be done in real time devoting most of my PC's system resources to the recording and preventing me from doing anything else that might trigger a sound on system audio. It's also taking a compressed image in the form of the Articulate Presentation and then recompressing it when it's transcoded to MP4. This makes an awful lot of text difficult if not impossible to read in my tests.
This feature has been requested multiple times in the forums, with Staff responses, for years now. I'm sure they're aware. Sometimes we need a lot of interactivity and sometimes we need flexibility of distribution. One thing we know is our users prefer a range of options, one of which is video.
Does recording the published video using Replay carry and keep the audio sound within the Storyline file? or you just end up recording only the screen and not the sound: Music, audio script narration? Please advise.
If you wish to record the internal audio, I invite you to check out the response posted here by one of our community members. It should help you out with handling this need.
How does Replay capture the audio in the Storyline 2 output? It will capture the visual, but how do you get it to capture the system sound like Captivate can?
I am using SL 3 and have tried the steps to record my Storyline lesson (preview entire project) so that I can export as an MP4 to share with my SME as a demo. The problem is that when I click on Record Screen, the How to record dialogue box appears, but it looks like my project has either been minimized or closed. When I hit record, a different window ie. PPT or something else I have open) is open. If I click on the SL icon in my system tray so that my lesson can appear, all I see is the What's new in Storyline 3 screen and I would need to select my lesson from the Recent list so I can hit Preview and begin recording it. I will then get a message telling me that the file is already in use or I will get an audio sound (that pinging sound you get when you try to click on something that isn't active) and I cannot get the lesson to appear. If I hit escape to end recording, I will see the Insert slides dialogue box.
Can someone please elaborate on the instructions to record a preview of the Storyline lesson itself ie. what to do after you click on New Slide - Record screen and include details re: what you need to do before you click on New Slide-Record screen eg. if you need to be in Slide view or Story view
You'd need to open a second instance of Storyline to record the existing one...you could also publish Storyline 3 to CD/local option and then play back the published output and record that with Storyline.

Hi Carrie and welcome to Heroes!
Storyline doesn't publish to a single file, so what you'd need to do is publish the course and then record the published output using a tool such as Replay (If you're an existing Storyline customer, click here to get your free license of Articulate Replay.) or recording it within Storyline and exporting out the MP4.
Hope that helps!

Hi Jean,
Ok - sorry for not offering enough steps in my first reply, so let me walk you through it now:
1. Finish you project in Storyline, and choose to Preview it as described here or publish it for Web here.
2. If you have published for web - you can use one of the following options as a testing site:
3. Once you have uploaded your course to a web server or the preview has started, you'll want to launch Replay and set it up to Record your screen.
4. You will likely need to adjust the size of the Replay recording section to match what your Storyline course is being viewed as.
5. You'll navigate through the Storyline course as normal, just ensuring to do so all within the Replay recording screen.
6. Once finished - and you've closed out of the recording mode, you'll than have the option to publish Replay as an MP4.
That MP4 can now be placed anywhere you need.
Hope that helps clarify.

Trevor,
If you don't need interaction, you can create in PowerPoint (including videos) and export it as an mp4.

Hi Chris! I believe you have to change the source on your system. Check out these instructions in a similar thread.

Hi Ashley
Yes that helps! Thank you for your help and quick response.
Not a problem at all Linda, glad I could clarify!
