How to create a paragraph with multiple fill in the blanks.

Aug 06, 2013

Dear forum,

I want to create a paragraph with multiple fill in the blanks. As Storyline does not allow me to do this, is there any way to work around or any other options. If anyone can share a working file that would be useful.

Given below is an example of what I am trying to create.

The merciless slaughter ________our flora and fauna will one day pose a challenge ________ our own existence. We notice an alarming decrease ________ the tiger population _____  ______20000  some 50 years back _____less than 2000 today. The sudden drop ________ the number ________ Siberian cranes is due ________ habitat degradation, hunting and poaching ________ the migratory routes ________ the birds. The promoting cause ________ the decline ______wildlife is excessive deforestation. Reckless land use and human settlement have added ________ the terror. As forests are cleared, coral reefs depleted, lands eroded, seas and oceans polluted, the animals and plants which depend ________ them are dying. The depressing scenario demands instant modification. We certainly have the infrastructure and intelligence ________ protect the endangered species but there is a greater need ________ tap its utility effectively.

Thanks and waiting for reply.

Regards,

Palani

Hi Velu,

Follow these steps below:

  1. Just type your paragraph on the slide normally as shown above.
  2. Create transparent  boxes where the words to be dropped.
  3. Name each box correctly.
  4. Type all the words that are to be dragged in separate text fields e.g. "Drag1" will be one text field "Drag2" will be another.
  5. Go to Insert menu, then click on "Convert to freeform"
  6. Now select Drop targets and Drop objects accordingly.
  7. Click save and close.
  8. Now preview your slide.

You could use drag and drop, but then you have to give them the words to be filled in.

Another possibility is to insert your own Data Entry fields (via menu Insert - Data Entry - Text entry).

Each field is linked to a variable. When the learner clicks on Next or a different button, you can check the value of each variable.

Kind regards,

Christophe
