How to create a Quiz slide of a Video with a Button to be pressed at a specific time with result collection

Mar 19, 2020

Hi,

For my project, I have a video of a race for users to watch and at a specific time (within a 7 sec window) the user must click a button, eg. between 1 minute and 1 minute & 7 seconds on the timeline (the timeline pauses at the start of the slide and resumes once the video is click to start it).

If they click the button between:

  • 0-59 secs they get a message 'too early - try again' and the race resumes
  • from 1 min & 8 secs onwards they get a message 'too late - try again' and the race restarts
  • between 1 min & 7 seconds they get a message 'correct - continue to the next race'.

For all 3 instances I would like to collect result data so I can track the users performance and focus training accordingly.

I've tried to approach it with true/false quiz slide with a radio button and put time parameters around when the button is clicked.  It works from the front end, but the result data I'm getting isn't accurate and I'm getting very confused with the triggers, variables, etc. and can't fix the issues.

Main faults are:

  • the % correct generated on the results slide at the end can be unreliable.  I have 10 races in one scene, all set at 10 points each but when I get them all correct I only achieve 88% on the results slide.
  • I can work out how to collect data for 'too early' and 'too late' interactions as I am giving them unlimited chances which always end in a correct result, so they will get 100% on the results slide.  How do I collect information on how many times they were 'too early' or 'too late'?
  • when I click on the Review Quiz button, and it takes you through each completed interactive slide completed, it marks them all as incorrect regardless of my performance.

My question is, does anyone know a simpler way of achieving my goal or can recommend a different approach or has perhaps created something similar they can share.

Thank you,

Kathy

PS I can't share the 1 race story I had because I keep getting an error messag saying my 'submission can't be verified' for some reason.
