How to customize Player to hide Transcript/Notes
Jun 13, 2014
Hello. My client has settled on a design for their Storyline Player which has the Transcript (Notes) on its own on the left. Please see screenshot below. They are requesting a button to toggle the Transcript on and off. I am familiar with Player’s options, but I am not sure if this is possible given this particular layout. (They do not want the Transcript on top as it hides content when toggled on. They also really like where the Menu, Resources and Glossary are, so do not want those on the left.)
Might someone know if it is possible to create a button on the player to toggle the Transcript on and off when using this layout?

Hi Shannon,
Using the built in player there isn't a toggle option - depending on your Flash coding skills you may be able to set something up using the Storyline SDK.
Thank you Ashley. If I'm understanding Storyline SDK correctly, it seems it would only affect the Flash output. These are going to be both HTML5 and Flash, so would I hard code each separately?
Hi Shannon,
The Storyline SDK will only be for your Flash output - so if you need to use the HTML5 output, you won't be able to use it.
What about instead of using the Player notes, using a closed captioning set up like Steve demonstrates here?
Thank you Ashley. I don't think that will work for this client. We've already got all the screens programmed and this would require a lot of rework. I'll put in a feature request. Thank you.
