How to disable slide forward navigation until user has clicked?

Apr 29, 2014

Hi

I have an intro page with a text box 'click to begin' which displays text in a layer.

How can I disable the forward navigation button until the user has clicked the 'click to begin'.

I dont want them to navigate forward without seeing the info in the click to begin.

thank you

 Hi Jane,

You can restrict the user by two ways:

1- Delete the "Jump to Next slide trigger" from the Player Triggers.

2- Go to the setting/properties of Base layer (starting layer) and unchecked the NEXT-PREVIOUS buttons. Also for custom slides you can change it from Option "Player features"

Hi Jane,

This means that Text Box 2 doesn't have a visited state, so the trigger you've set up won't work. You're asking Storyline to change the state of the 'next 1 - "Chord 1"' object to normal when the Text Box 2 state = visited. Storyline is telling you it can't do that because Text Box 2 doesn't have a visited state.

You can check out what states an object has by clicking the object on the slide, then clicking the States tab. As you see below, this text box only has a Normal state.
