Storyline isn't currently designed to expose system variables for user interaction, such as the total slides or slides seen. As a result, JavaScript triggers that reference them could interfere with course playback.
We value your feedback and want to better understand your needs, so we can build even better software! Help us plan for the future by sending us your feature requests with specific system variables you'd like to see and examples of how they could be used.

Thread one and two might offer some suggestions
Nope.
Something simple like;
Text box, "Total slides = %xslides%"
John,
Did you ever find the answer to whether there is a built-in variable?
Hi Tony and John,
Storyline isn't currently designed to expose system variables for user interaction, such as the total slides or slides seen. As a result, JavaScript triggers that reference them could interfere with course playback.

Thanks!
This is now easy peasy with Storyline's new slide numbers feature: https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-360/articles/storyline-360-add-slide-numbers
(I was driving by searching for something related and thought I'd cap this thread with my favorite new feature)
