How to edit the state of a web object?

Hello,
I am currently developing a course in SL2 where I would like to utilize a web object. On the slide with the web object, I have already created a trigger to change the state of the next button to “hidden” when the timeline on this slide starts. I would like to change the state of the next button back to “Normal” after the web object has been "visited" so the user is required to complete the task within the web object link before they can click next and advance to the next slide. The problem I am running into is that it will allow me to set up this trigger but It won't allow me to edit/change the state of the web object in any way. Below is a screenshot of the message I keep receiving in the trigger wizard.
Any help on this would be appreciated!

In spite of what you think the wizard is telling you, web objects do not have states.
Hi Steven,
As Walt said, it'll let you select that as it's a slide object - but since it doesn't have any states (and can't have any) you'll see that flagged error message.
Steven, you will probably have to place some Javascript code within your web object link that will change a Storyline variable. What is the content of your web object?
