How to Get 2 Sliders to Combine and Change the State of 1 Bar Chart?

Jun 17, 2020

See my attached draft. I'm looking to change the state (height) of a bar chart, based on the combined positions of two sliders (which represent two separate bar charts). Each slider has 5 positions, so there's a total of 25 combinations.

Currently, I have triggers based on the state of the first two charts. However, the state of the third chart is only changed if I move the sliders up and down to "reset" it somehow.

Should I be using variables instead of states . . . or a combination of the two? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Kevin,

Looking at your slide I noticed that CAIDI = SAIDI / SAIFI. Just in case you weren't aware of it, you can always calculate using sliders to get the end result you are after. You could then use this end result to set your final slider and also change the state of your cube.

In the attached example, I have used your original scales and set up the sliders accordingly. Note that I have used the actual scale values for the sliders instead of simply 0 - 4. The final slider is based on the above calculation. You are probably better off using your original this time with Wendy's update, but I just thought I would let you know in case this could be of use to you in the future.

Wendy & Ned,

I can't thank you enough!! You're definitely E-Learning Heroes!

I was trying to cobble this together in a variety of crazy ways (states, layers, hidden elements, etc.) ... anything to make it work, but I just couldn't make it happen. Your solutions are very simple and effective. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and point me in the right direction!
