How to have all layers show when user clicks Previous

Hi everyone!
I have a course where we have comic book slides in which the user can click either the box hotspot or the Next button to see each comic box in order.
We've used a number variable which increases by +1 with each click of the Next button until all layers are seen, at which time the Next button now advances to the next slide.
The problem is that if the user clicks Previous to go back, the calculation is already maxed out so they see the base layer but can't click through to see all other layers.
Is there a way to have all layers shown when the user goes back? I've tried the "Resume saved State" setting but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Suggestions?

Hi, Pam -- Thanks for reaching out with your question! It looks like a similar question was posed over here in this discussion, How to show layers when you click on player previous button? in case that may help for what you have in mind.
Thank you Christie - I'll try that... Fingers crossed!
hi there - this doesn't seem to be helping. I've added a "subtract 1" from the previous slide's number variable but it keeps going back to the base layer, not showing all layers. Any other tips?
