How to make Storyline executable from an external hard drive ?

Sep 20, 2012

Hello,

I am used to work with an external hard drive and to execute portable applications from it (example : Viewletbuilder, Audacity ...). This with the help of the Ceedo application.  It works great.

My question is : is it possible to install Storyline on a portable hard drive and to start/use it from it ?  This would be very interesting if I could work so : portability of the application and not to be linked anymore to a computer.  This especially when you want to record a demo of an application that is not installed on your own computer but on a colleague's one.

I have seen on the Internet that some people explain how to make any application portable.  Would anyone have already experienced that ?

Who would be kind enough to answer to my questions ?

I thank you in advance.

Kind regards.

Etienne

I'm not sure if this is possible, and it probably breaks the end-user agreement if you can figure it out.    You're only suppose to use it on a computer where its primary user is the person who holds the license.  You can use it on up to two computers.

If you could put it on a hard drive, you could essentially buy one license for an entire company and simply pass the hard drive around.

It's been a while since these comments but who knows... if there's anything new so... I start it up once again : it would be wonderful to be able to have it in an external HD without breaking the agreement since it would be one user at a time anyways, no ? With all the now too frequent changes in Windows based units, I'm one of those now considering moving toward Chromebooks and running everything from external HDs... and I'm not the only one... :-)

Hi Jhulio,

Thanks for bringing this up again! It's always helpful to know what features or behaviors folks would like to see in Storyline, and this is one that we've yet to add.

It sounds like having this ability is something that would improve your experience using Articulate - if you have a chance to share more details, please feel free to send those here.
