How to Manage Player Resources Across Multiple Modules

Jul 30, 2013

Hi.  I'm creating an 11-module course and have over a dozen resources entered into the player "Resource" section.  The resources are mostly documents and I want the same set of resources to be available exactly the same in each module.  While developing the modules, I occasionally find a need to add a new resource or make edits to existing ones.  When I do, I have to go through each of the modules and repeat the same changes to upload new documents.  It would help me considerably if there was a way to create a single set of resources and then have all modules in a course "point" to that single set, so I wouldn't have to duplicate the changes over each module.  Is there a way to do this?  I know I could just wait until all the modules are finished, and then go through each one to add the resources.  But even that seems like a lot of unnecessary duplication.

Thank you.

Hi Rich,

I thought through something else - could you save all the resources on a web server, and link to the URL for each resource. If you save this as a .storytemplate you should be able to import that into other existing presentations, and those resources will stay within your player. Let me know if that makes sense!

Hi MB,

Thanks for reaching out here. We are not able to share timelines or information in regards to where certain feature requests stand, so I don't have any additional information to share with you at this time. It does seem to be a particular use case that would need this, so in the meantime I'd look at adding all those elements to one course and then share the resources with other courses as detailed here.
